Knee-Subluxation (partly luxated knee), mechanics and release.

When bowing the knee, the angle between thigh and lower leg never should be smaller than 90°, because otherwise the knee joint subluxates. This happens for example at gymnastic exercises, where the lower leg is drawn up behind, touching the back of the thigh.

When stretching the leg again after an extreme flection of the knee, the surfaces of the knee joint do not fit into each other exactly any more, because, when stretching out again, the lower leg is positioned backwards a little and the thigh forward. This causes the lengthening of the concerned leg.
